Part 2: Collage for My Antonia

The picture of the family remind me of how Antonia’s family might have looked have they first came to Nebraska. I know that were very poor and probably nervous.

The picture of the prairie represents the prairie in Nebraska. Willa Cather really loved the prairie and you can definitely see that in this book. Jim and Antonia really enjoyed playing in the grass as kids and when they are adults they still miss it when they live in towns.

I chose the picture of the empty swing because it made my think about how Antonia really had to give up her childhood. Even before her father died she still worked more than played, and after he died she worked full time. I think that Antonia might have ended up a different person if she didn’t have to work on the farm.

The picture of the business woman represents Lena as an adult. Jim is very proud and surprised of her and before going to Antonia’s home, he wishes she was like Lena. Lena really turned her life around and made something out of herself. I think that Lena is a great role model because she always worked hard.
