Part 7: Unique word for To Kill A Mockingbird

I chose the word enmity for To Kill A Mockingbird because it means hatred and to cause a problem. I feel like this word sums up the book because hatred is the reason that every problem is started. For example, if people hadn’t spread so many rumors, Boo Radley may have felt safe enough to get out of his house and restart his life. Also if most of the town weren’t racist, Tom Robinson wouldn’t have been tried for rape, his wife wouldn’t have been harassed, he wouldn’t be dead, and Atticus’ family wouldn’t have been taunted for supporting African Americans. All these issues may have different reasons for starting, but they all started because people hated something and wanted to start a problem.
